Dr. Matthias Gehling
Director Operations
Dr. Matthias Gehling has over 16 years of experience in Natural Products research, including 12 years of industrial drug discovery with Bayer AG and Bayer HealthCare AG, Germany. He gained extensive experience in lead discovery for the Life Science areas Pharma, Animal Health and Crop Protection. Prior to joining InterMed discovery in 2006 he was Director – Enabling Technologies Natural Product Research at Bayer HealthCare. He headed an interdisciplinary team for Natural Products Chemistry, Analytics, Biology, Scale-up fermentation and downstream processing, covering all aspects of industrial Natural Product research.
Several cooperation projects with international partners have been initiated and monitored by him. He co-authored several patents and papers on biological active Natural Products and has been invited speaker to some international conferences.
Dr. Gehling received his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1989 from the University of Münster, Germany with an emphasis on studies towards biosynthetic pathway analysis by advanced radio-labeled precursor feeding.
